PEOPLE

I originally wrote this in college almost 10 years ago.

The world is a library

Full of books

That hold stories

Each country

Each state

Each city

Is a library

Within a library within libraries

Each person is a book

Each person is a story

That holds several chapters

That hold several stories

That hold several chapters

I have a memory of taking this photo in my freshman year of college, placing my journal at the time (I started it in 12th grade and continued it in that first year of college— only to start and complete a few new journals without finishing this one, and then actually coming back in my senior of college to finish whatever pages I have left of this particular one) on the pink bedding I had on my college mattress in my college dorm room. Time is such a weird thing— it’s weird that the memory was real at all, and the familiarity of it makes it feel weird that it’s a thing of a distant past.

Some of my completed journals from over the past few years. What chapters, stories, chapters within stories and stories within chapter might I have in there? What about you and your life— whether it’s in a journal or not? What kinds of chapters do you see being reoccurring in your life, and what stories do you tell yourself? What stories need a revision, and how has your narrative been empowering for you? How could you find even more empowerment in your narratives?
